I have a son, who loves trains and is thinking about trains all the time. He is the person who is happy when he is just riding trains since he was even a baby so I often take him just to ride subway without any other purposes.
There is the best spot which we can get satisfied with desire about trains for train-lovers in NY, New York Transit Museum. I’m going to introduce New York Transit Museum today.
The museum is in Brooklyn downtown area, at where after passing through Manhattan soon. We can access to the staition, Jay St Metro Tech station by either A, C, F or R lines or Borough Hall Station by either 2, 3, 4 or 5 lines. At the Jay St Metro Tech Station, there is elevator to reach the ground level so if you are taking your little ones with stroller, I would say you should access to Jay St Metro Tech Station. At Borough Hall Station, there is elevator in the Manhattan bound platform in 4 or 5 lines only so if you have plans to visit there with stroller, you need to carry stroller up to reach the ground level.
NY Transit Museum is not far from either stations, for about 7 minutes by foot. The atmosphere around the museum is very nice, sidewalk is wide and clean, there are many good restaurants and cafes and good department stores so we, adults and kids, can satisfy this trip.
Now this museum uses the place which used to be a real station of subway. It is also used for school trips weekdays and we often see many kids there and they look happy and interested in exhibits. However, I haven’t seen this museum is too packed so this is a one reason why I like this place and we can usually stay there as long as we like.
These old trains are displayed in the old platform. Also, we can enter the trains and see inside.
Old seats are still existing in these old trains. It’s so beautiful.
The flyer looks the same as long ago.
A diorama was also displayed.
There are some exhibits for activities for kids. This area is always popular for kids.

This is a hamburger shop, very famous, in NY. There are the hamburger shops in Manhattan as well but this location is very nice. Because there are pedestrians zone close to it and we can take these seats outside to eat it if the weather is good. Also there is a slope for wheelchair and stroller and it’s easy to reach the shop inside.
It’s the most popular grocery store in NY and very close to the museum by foot. You can shop either everyday groceries or souvenirs.
There is the main store on Manhattan. The main store is always crowded so if you want to see and get some products enough, I recommend this location.
This is a Chinese restaurant. This place is very popular for neighbors and very crowded. We can get chinese dumpling with reasonable price.
This is a outlet store. They have a few locations on Manhattan too. You may find reasonable good products which you want there.
This is a restaurant. It has very yummy New York cheese cakes and this location is the main store. We can have lunch and dinner with dessert there.
This is a bakery. The neighbors love it and the atmosphere is very homey. You can have a coffee break and relax there.
